About Safeguarding

About Safeguarding
The Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Ireland (Ecumenical Patriarchate) and Exarchate of Celtic See is committed to providing safe spaces and ensuring safe relationships for our community and all with whom we have contact.

Our Metropolitan Safeguarding Office promotes the safe care of children and other vulnerable people in many ways, including:

  • Developing good practice in our ministry with children and vulnerable adults;
  • Providing safeguarding training for clergy, staff, employees and volunteers;
  • Ensuring that all members in active ministry and employees and volunteers working with children undergo Garda vetting and a safe recruitment process;
  • Dealing with complaints and concerns about child protection and other safeguarding matters in a responsible, confidential and responsive manner;
  • Making required reports to civil authorities, and advising the Metropolitan  on any protective measures necessary to protect children from abuse.
