Our Mission and History
The Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Ireland, a beacon of faith and community, was established in 2024 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. This significant development marked the separation of Ireland’s territories from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. Our mission is to serve the Orthodox Christian community across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, fostering spiritual growth and unity. Under the leadership of Metropolitan Iakovos, enthroned by Archbishop Nikitas, we continue to uphold the rich traditions of Orthodoxy while embracing the unique cultural heritage of Ireland.
